Trends are great...but before long everyone is wearing the same look. Sometimes you want to break away and make your own statement with fashion and jewelry selections. That is what I try to offer with my designs. I find inspiration in many places, but am most drawn to modern and abstract art forms and to the vast array of possibilities in basic geometrics.
I started out making jewelry as a hobby and as a way of moving beyond what I found in stores. In those early days, I strung gemstone, wood, and crystal beads to create necklaces, bracelets, and earrings of almost every color you can imagine. Later I added wire wrapping to capture gemstone cabochons and to create dimensional jewelry pieces. Ever eager to learn new techniques and challenge my creativity, I added metalsmithing to my repertoire.
I still love colorful gemstones and include them as appropriate in some of my design. Creating with wire is easily portable, so I can fill "idle" time making my own custom components. Metalsmithing, though, has become my favorite outlet. Working with hammers and torches and saws and files to create something eye-catching out of a simple sheet of silver, copper, or brass gives me immense satisfaction and an incomparable sense of accomplishment.
I first opened an Etsy shop in 2017, but discovered that I was woefully unprepared for the needs of an online shop. I allowed it to go dormant, concentrating on my "day job" in higher education and selling mainly through art and craft fairs. My love of creating has never dimmed, though. And I still get a rush of excitement when someone comments on one of my own designs I wear almost daily.
It is my fervent hope that you will find my creations the perfect way to express your individuality in a sea of mass-produced sameness.
